NotifyMe

Windows always notifies us, one way or another, when a process is complete or when it encounters an error, but it does not allow us to create our own notifications. Fortunately, third party applications provide all the features we need, which are nowhere to be found in the Windows operating system. In this case, you can use NotifyMe to customize your own on-screen notifications. If you want to remember important tasks or make things interesting on your computer, this lightweight application can help you.

NotifyMe is distributed free of charge, but you can make a donation if you wish to support future developments. It comes in a small package and it can be installed almost instantly. The application works on Windows XP and any later edition and it asks for a processor of 1 GHz or more and at least 256 MB of RAM.

The compact user interface displays a graphical representation of a computer monitor, on which you can preview your custom notifications. Created notifications are listed beneath the monitor. You may click various options, in the same area, to create new notifications, edit or delete existing ones and start or stop their countdown timers.

New notifications are defined on a separate window, on which you must specify how and when they should appear on your screen. You can enable a fade in and out effect, choose to display text, an image and play an audio file. Notifications can be set to appear at a specific time of the day or after a countdown.

While editing a notification, you can type a custom message and change its font settings and colors. The application also allows you to select an image and an audio file from your local folders. You can either use browsing options, or explore your folders directly on the notification editing window. You just need to select a picture or an audio file and its path will be inserted automatically, in the appropriate input field.
